The national gourmet pretzel shop is determined to give away the most free pretzels in the company’s history on National Pretzel Day (April 26) while raising funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
ATLANTA – April 1, 2014 – No twists here! Pretzelmaker® is on a mission to give away 65,000 free pretzels on National Pretzel Day, while raising funds and awareness for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Customers are invited to visit their local Pretzelmaker to receive a FREE soft pretzel (standard salted or unsalted) on Saturday, April 26. Last year, the shop gave away 40,000 free pretzels in celebration of the national day of observance, and this year it wants to make it 65,000.
During National Pretzel Day, customers will be encouraged (but not obligated) to make an in-kind donation of any amount to the organization. If the company achieves its goal and breaks its free pretzel record, Pretzelmaker will make a corporate contribution to LLS, which seeks to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Customers can also make donations online by visiting Light the Night.
“National Pretzel Day is our biggest and most exciting day of the year,” said David Smith, Vice President, Pretzelmaker, “Because of the excitement and exposure surrounding our annual pretzel giveaway, we decided to introduce customers to our charity of choice, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We hope our customers enjoy their free pretzel and consider making a donation to the organization that brightens the lives of cancer patients and their families. National Pretzel Day is always a momentous occasion, but this year even more so. We invite our customers to visit and help us reach our goal of giving away 65,000 free pretzels in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.”
Pretzelmaker is managed by Global Franchise Group, LLC, which recently launched its “A Bite for the Fight” fundraising campaign in support of LLS. The strategic brand management company and franchisor behind Pretzelmaker, Great American Cookies®, Marble Slab Creamery®, and MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream & Treatery® aims to raise $1 million to support LLS in 2014. “A Bite for the Fight” also includes patient outreach, engagement with families and special offers for supporters of LLS.

About Leukemia & Lymphoma Society – Visit LLS
LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested almost $1 billion in research to advance lifesaving therapies and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. In fiscal year 2013, LLS supported research in the U.S., Canada, and seven other countries with a commitment of nearly $74 million. In addition, LLS provides co-pay assistance for prescription drugs and insurance premiums, free education programs, support groups & peer counseling to patients and their families. The charity also advocates for patient access to adequate networks of providers and services, protection from high out-of-pocket costs that limit access to life saving treatments, and is working with regulatory agencies to formulate clinical trial guidelines that will accelerate the development, review and approval of new therapies.
